“Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety.”
Proverbs 29:2 (NLT)
Just as the wind changes direction without warning, so do our thoughts. We can’t move through life in fear of what others will say or think about us. However, that’s much easier said than done. We value the opinions of those we love, and sometimes we value the opinions of strangers.
If you struggle with peer pressure or people bondage, you have to make a decision. Will you continue to live in this fear, or will you choose to trust God? Neither choice is easy but only one is worth it. So, who are you really living for?
Don’t hide who you truly are – who God created you to be – out of fear of what others will think. Don’t neglect what you know God has called you to do because of the negativity and discouragement you receive from others. Embrace wholeheartedly His plan and purpose for your life. Trust that He is enough to fulfill you, protect you and provide for you. Pray for courage and boldness to walk in faith. And remember that one day, you will have to give an account to God, and not to those people you were so worried about.
“Don’t put your trust in mere humans. They are as frail as breath. What good are they?”
Isaiah 2:22 (NLT)
