“A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.”
Proverbs 11:25 NIV
One thing I love about the holiday season is giving. Although there are opportunities to give throughout the year, there’s something extra special about giving during Christmas time. I always look forward to sponsoring a child through Giving Hope at my church. We also host a shopping mall where families in need are able to receive gifts, prayer, and experience the hope of Jesus Christ.
A few years ago, I remember feeling as though I just didn’t have the means to give as I would have liked to. I learned quickly that generosity is not solely restricted to financial contributions. You can also give your time. Serving at church and volunteering at community events are a great way to give back. Donating things such as canned foods and clothes you no longer wear (but are still in good condition), also make a huge difference. The holiday season may also be a lonely time of year for those who do not have close loved ones. Visiting hospitals and nursing homes is another great way to spread hope and the love of Christ.
My challenge to you is to serve in at least 1 way this season. How can you make someone else feel extra special? Who has God connected you to, that you can be a blessing to? As you pour into others, God will ensure all your needs are met. How do you plan to give? Comment below!
