“Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else.”
Galatians 6:4 NLT
You were not created to be measured against anyone else. You are a one-of-a-kind being. Your characteristics, your gifts and the story of your life will not mirror anyone else’s. If you make a habit of comparing yourself to others, you will always come up short. Without even realizing it, you will trick yourself into believing you’re not “enough” in some way.
Instead, celebrate who you are and where you are in life. Jonathan McReynolds has a song titled Comparison Kills. One of my favorite lines is, “It makes you chase what’s not meant to be chased. Because you’ve possessed it all along. It comes to steal and hide what is real. Comparison kills.”
Everything you need is already in your grasp. God has graced you to walk a specific path. He has given you exactly what you need for your individual journey. And the power He placed on the inside of you is greater than any external force. It is the same power that raised Jesus from the dead. God promises to protect us, give us divine wisdom and share His resources.
You were made in God’s image. You don’t have to compare yourself or chase what others are pursuing. There’s purpose on the inside of you. There will always be purpose on the inside of you, no matter what wrong turns you’ve made, how you view yourself or what others say about you. Suffocate the lies of comparison and walk unapologetically in who YOU were created to be!
“In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well.”
Romans 12:6 NLT
