What’s Your Superpower?

In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well.
Romans 12:6

My NLT Bible defines confidence as “a feeling or consciousness of one’s power.” Before reading this definition, I’d never thought of myself as having “powers.” I then remembered 2 Timothy 1:7. God has not given us a spirit of fear or timidity but of power, of love and of sound mind. It made sense because fear and confidence are directly related.

I believe a lack of confidence reveals the presence of fear. Whether it’s not feeling good enough, being afraid of outcomes or rejection, or even being afraid of losing something or someone. Fear has the potential to immobilize us, keeping us from being who we truly are.

So, I asked myself, “What are my powers, or natural abilities? What’s embedded on the inside of me?” I wrote my thoughts on index cards. If you’ve been following my blog for some time, I’m sure you’re aware of how passionate I am about affirmations and my concept of style and grace. For my new friends, style and grace is the combination of the beauty flowing from within you and the unique characteristics that make you special. It is the confidence in knowing you have been hand-picked by God and graced to be all He has created you to be.

In Steve Harvey’s book Jump, he encouraged readers to discover their God-given gifts. We share the belief that there are things God created you to do, and no one else can do them exactly as you can. Steve Harvey shares a story about one of his friends who loved to cut grass. This friend would often choose cutting grass over hanging out. His friends would laugh at him then, but now he has a landscaping business worth 4 million dollars.

If I were to purchase a lawnmower and start a landscaping business tomorrow, my results would not be the same. That’s not what I was graced for. Plus, outdoor activities during cold months are not my thing.

God has blessed each one of us with gifts. We are all graced to do certain things well. I’m not sure about you, but that makes me feel super special! With that being said, what positively sets you apart? And what do you possess on the inside of you that can change the world?
