It was one of those days that started off normal. I went about my routine as I typically would. A YouTube video played in the background while I finished a task I was working on. And then I got the call. One of those calls that stops you in your tracks and you forget about every minuscule thing that doesn’t really matter. My heart sank as I fought back the tears. I couldn’t hold it in anymore and one by one the tears rolled down my cheek. When I hung up the phone, I said, “God, I don’t understand, but I trust you.”
2024 is only two days away and I have no idea what my life will look like in a year from now or how everything will unfold, but I know that I trust God. If I would have received this call a year ago – or three years ago – I’m not sure that my reaction would be the same. But I’ve leaned into God so much this year, my first instinct was to run to Him. To trust in His goodness. I believe God prepares us for moments like this. I write this blog post today with the hope of encouraging you. That if life throws you a curveball, you will be reminded that you were created for this and you are held in the hands of the Creator.
We are spiritual beings living in a natural world which means there will be trials and unexpected turns that come our way. Our faith will be tested and our strength will be challenged. But in God, we truly have everything we need. When your hope in God is built on a solid foundation, you won’t be knocked off your feet when the turbulent winds come. But don’t wait until it gets hard to seek God. Spend time with Him and get to know His character. Listen for His voice. Thank Him for everything He has done and is doing. Meditate on His Word and store it in your heart.
There are many seasons in life, but they’re all temporary. If it’s a good season, it won’t last forever. If it’s a rough season, it won’t last always either. But in every season, God is consistent. He promises to provide us with everything we need. He is Jehovah Rapha; a Healer. Jehovah Shalom; He is Peace. Jehovah Jireh; Provider. Jehovah Nissi; He reigns in victory. Jehovah Tsaba: The Lord is Our Warrior. Jehovah Shammah; The Lord is There. He goes before us.
Remember this: Any battle you face has already been won. As we prepare to enter into a new year, I pray that you will seek God like you never have before. I pray you will find safety in His presence and that your days will be filled with joy and laughter. One thing that gives me hope is knowing there is another life where there will be no pain, no sickness, no heartbreak. And I hope to see you there. β€οΈ
I’m excited for what the new year will bring and I look forward to making more positive, upbeat posts in 2024. Until next time π
