A Wreck Like Me

Hey girl, hey!

As some of you know, this summer I took a much needed break from my social media (@styledandgraced). During that time I learned so much about myself. I shared in my last post that the purpose of my blog is to celebrate and inspire other women. BUT, please don’t think I have it all figured out. Tuh! If only. I have struggles and things I deal with on a daily basis. But I understand God still has a purpose for me in the middle of my imperfection, and the same is true for you.

We are all on a journey. We are all works in progress. When we are weak, His grace is more than enough. I believe it’s important to remember this when we mess up or whenever someone else does something to really push our buttons. Sis, not only do you need grace for yourself, you also need to extend grace to the next woman because she is not perfect either.

Have you ever felt like you were making progress, then something happened and for a moment you went back to an old habit? An old pattern? An old mindset?

It’s tempting to feel like our progress is completely destroyed when we fall off track. But that’s not true. Imagine this: your favorite football team is up 28-14. They try to make the next touchdown, but it doesn’t happen. The kicker tries to kick the field goal and misses. The crowd is upset because he missed. But look at the scoreboard; you’re still up 14 points.

Your mistakes are events; they don’t define you. Sin literally means to miss the mark. You are not defined by what happens to you or what you have done. You are a daughter of the King, you are fearfully and wonderfully made, and God is faithful to complete the work He started in you. Remember that when you feel discouraged. And know that God has purpose for you no matter where you are in life. Even broken mirrors still reflect light. The amazing thing about God though, is He won’t leave us broken. His mission is to make you whole; renewing your mindset and transforming your life.

Remember, you were created to spread light. And you don’t have to reach a certain “level” before you can begin making a positive impact on people. Start where you are today.

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
Jeremiah 1:5
