You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.
Matthew 5:14 NIV
As the saying goes, diamonds are a girl’s best friend. I’m not exactly sure how true that statement is, but I wouldn’t mind adding a few precious stones to my jewelry collection. Every now and then I like to stop and admire the beautiful diamonds in the stores at the mall.
Diamond jewelers know the value of what they possess. If you walk into a diamond store, you will see diamonds on display amongst the glass counters and bright lights. They wouldn’t dare hide their inventory! That would be silly. Almost as silly as God’s daughters not embracing who they were created to be.
Do you struggle with self-image or care too deeply about what other people think of you?Are you afraid to walk in purpose? What if I reminded you that you were beautifully and wonderfully made in the image of God? (Psalm 139:14) You were made in the image of the Creator of the entire universe. He gives life and He is the definition of love. What lies have you believed about who you are?
Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.
Matthew 5:15 NIV
You are worthy. And your worth does not decrease when other people are not able to see it. Your value does not lessen when you feel insecure, because your value is found in Christ. Your dreams do not become impossible the moment someone shoots them down, unless you decide you will no longer pursue them. Because faith without works is dead (James 2:17) and if you’re going to believe in God you must also believe you were created in His image and the desires He has for you will come to pass (Genesis 1:27, Hebrews 11:6, Jeremiah 29:11). This is God’s promise to you; it has to become your truth.
In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matthew 5:16 NIV
Understand that you were created to be a light, which means you weren’t created to be hidden. Don’t be ashamed of your God-given radiance; your faith, joy, strength, gifts and unique characteristics. Don’t sell yourself short or hide who you truly are because you’re afraid of how you’ll be perceived by others. It’s okay if you stand out because you were chosen to be set apart. Everyone won’t understand this, but they don’t have to. Refuse to allow pressure, discontentment, loneliness or fear to make you settle for less than what God says you are worth.
Our perfect God makes no mistakes. You must know for yourself that you were created on purpose, with purpose. Pray that you will see yourself the way God sees you and that you will have an understanding of His will for your life. He has already graced you for the path you’re walking. Embrace who He has created you to be and don’t allow anyone to stop your shine!! 🌻
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
1 Peter 2:9 NIV
